Who we are
a. We are residents and business owners of the 100 Leasehold apartments, a children’s nursery and hair salon at Royal Mint Street, East Smithfield and St Mary Graces Court, Cartwright Street and stand on the historic freehold land called Royal Mint Court, overlooking the Tower of London). Metropolitan Housing Trust hold the head lease to our homes.
b. Our Superior landlord (the freeholder) was the Crown Estate Commissioners who acquired the 5.4 acres of land in 1539 from the Cistercian Abbey of St Mary Graces following the dissolution of the monasteries. In 2018, the People’s Republic of China purchased the freehold land including the commercial offices, listed buildings, archaeological remains of the Abbey and our homes and businesses.
What we do and why
a. Our mission to make our homes, businesses and communal areas a safe, law abiding and pleasant place for people to live, work and visit.
b. We do this because we want to protect our fundamental human rights which we believe have been overlooked by public authorities and others in the past and ultimately, we want to make our homes and neighbourhood a better place for current and future generations.
